Strength Enhancers

Impact modifiers are added to composite materials to increase the strength and toughness of plastic resins. In addition to impact performance, a number of other properties of the material such as optical and tensile properties, weatherability, workability, flammability, heat degradation and cost can be improved by adding impact modifiers. One of the main applications of impact modifiers is PVC resins: MBS (Methyl Butadiene Styrene) and Acrylic impact modifiers increase the impact resistance of PVC products without impairing other properties.
In addition to impact performance, impact modifiers can help improve other properties of the material such as:
Optics and tensile properties
weather resistance
machinability
flammability
heat degradation
To meet industry requirements, polymers such as polyamide, polyester, PVC or bioplastic need improved impact resistance.
